Disruption for motorists in Ballabeg

by isleofman.com 8th April 2011

MOTORISTS in Ballabeg face disruption from Monday as the Department of Infrastructure carries out road resurfacing works.

The department will begin resurfacing the carriageway between Duck Street and Friary Park, and between Friary Park and Sycamore Cottage, at 9am.

The road will be closed daily until 4.30pm and work is expected to finish on April 21. However if the weather is poor this time will be extended to Friday, April 29.

The carriageway resurfacing will finish the road drainage improvement scheme that was carried out earlier in the year.

The old road surface will be removed and the ironwork in the road reset to the height of the new road surface. A new road surface will then be laid and this will ensure better drainage.

Pedestrian access will be maintained to all properties and school buses will have access through the site. The public bus service will not be able to run through the area during the road closure. Service one will divert via Shore Road.

The department has apologised for any inconvenience caused by the closure and hopes the public will see major improvements to this area on completion of the scheme.
