'Concept of civil partnerships could be extended'

The Island's bishop is asking whether civil partnerships should apply to same-sex couples only.

Bishop Robert Paterson says he is 'perfectly happy' to see legal recognition for gay relationships in the Isle of Man.

The law establishing new rights came into force on Wednesday, but Bishop Robert says it discriminates against those in long-term relationships with people of the opposite sex who can't marry.

He says there are situations where a civil partnership would serve them well:
