Right-to-die: election candidates should give their views

by isleofman.com 3rd April 2011

A group campaigning for a right-to-die law in the Island says candidates standing in September's general election should declare whether they are for or against voluntary euthanasia.

The newly-formed Island branch of Dignity in Dying says it's an important matter of conscience - and those seeking election to the Keys should make clear their stance on assisted dying.

That call came on the weekend a speaker from a UK pro-life group is holding a series of talks in the Island, opposing all forms of euthanasia.

Dr John Ling says making euthanasia legal would be 'bad medicine', even though some terminally ill people refuse further treatment.
