THE Spa Suite at the National Sports Centre in Douglas has re-opened after an £80,000 refurbishment.
The Department of Community, Culture and Leisure has funded a new jacuzzi and redecorated the facility.
There has also been an upgrade of the air conditioning system, furniture, doors and tiles as well as the installation of themed lighting.
Community Culture and Leisure Minister David Cretney MHK said: "I used to go to the old facility at Summerland then five years ago when I lost three stones in weight on a challenge to get fit I got in the habit of relaxing in the Spa Suite after doing a workout on the various gym equipment.
"For anyone who enjoys the relaxation a spa offers then this offers inexpensive access for all. I recommend the NSC advance saver ticket, which is what I use – it provides very good value!"
Up to 50,000 people a year use the Fitness Zone and around half of those also use the Spa Suite.
Mr Cretney added: "After 12 years of operation it's not surprising that the jacuzzi tub had come to the end of its working life and had to be replaced and the whole Spa Suite was ready for refurbishment.
"As part of the investment in this commercial, income-generating business, we have also installed a new and improved filtration system which has one of the best chemical dosing systems on the market meaning it complies with the most stringent guidelines.
"Overall I'm delighted with the improvements that have been made and I hope the NSC's customers will be too."
