by isleofman.com 1st April 2011

A ?40 million sewerage scheme goes before Tynwald for approval later this month.

Chairman of the Isle of Man Water and Sewerage Authority Tim Crookall MHK will seek permission to implement the Regional Sewage Treatment and Sludge Disposal strategy, for 2011 to 2016.

The scheme is split into four parts, the first of which would involve the creation of what are called 'package sewage treatment plants' at Patrick, Glen Maye, Dalby, Bride, Maughold Village, Port Lewaigue, Glen Mona and Corony.

Sewage treatment works would be constructed at Jurby, Kirk Michael and Ramsey, with the latter also including the transfer of sewage from what's called 'the Ramsey network'.

The fourth element of the scheme would be a sludge treatment facility at Meary Veg, Santon.
