POLICE in the south of the Island are investigating several incidents of criminal damage around Langness.
Last Thursday, March 24, it was discovered that fence posts and a gate which line a cliff edge had been removed and thrown onto the rocks below, making the area particularly unsafe for people walking or exercising their animals.
The fencing had been cut away from the posts and the gate had been removed from a small bridge which leads out to the old lighthouse foghorn. A gate post was also removed from within the lighthouse vicinity.
Sergeant Rosie Hawes of the Southern Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "As I am sure people are aware this area of land and access to it is currently being dealt with by the high court and no final decisions in relation to access rights have currently been made.
"From a Policing point I would say that no person has the right to damage any property not belonging to them. This area is well used by the public for recreational purposes and I would urge anybody who may have seen anyone causing damage in the area or who has any information in relation to this matter to please contact me at Port Erin Police Station or speak with any police officer."
Anyone with information on the criminal damage is asked to contact Port Erin Police Station on 01624 832222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
