by isleofman.com 29th March 2011

TIM Short has been appointed the new headteacher at St Mary's RC Primary School, Douglas.

He has worked at the school since moving to the Island in January 1984 and was appointed deputy headteacher just over a year later.

He became acting headteacher of the school in September last year.

Becoming a headteacher runs in the family - he is married to Jane, the daughter of the former head teachers at St John's and St Mary's and his sister-in-law is the headteacher at Auldyn Infants School.

Brian Blair was the previous headteacher at St Mary's which has 275 pupils on its register.
