Cosmetics company is fighting sex trafficking

by isleofman.com 28th March 2011

The local branch of The Body Shop is taking part in a campaign to stop sex trafficking around the world.

The company is calling on the United Kingdom government to introduce guardianship for young victims, and it's asking Isle of Man residents to sign a petition before the end of the month (March).

Amanda Clarke from the Strand Street store says when the appeal ends the petition will be taken to the UK government and The Body Shop will call for a law change.

She is hoping people will offer their support (play audio file):

The wording on the poster (above) under 'Sign Our Petition' reads: 'Over 1.2 million children and young people are trafficked every year.

'Make a difference, sign our petition to Stop Sex Trafficking of Children and Young People'.
