No date yet for possible strike action

by isleofman.com 27th March 2011

No date has yet been set for any possible strike action by postal workers.

Members of the Communication Workers' Union held a meeting this morning (Sun) to decide on their next move.

A secret ballot several weeks ago secured a large majority in favour of a walk-out, if attempts to resolve their pay dispute with Post Office management end in deadlock.

Assistant Secretary of the CWU, Terry Pullinger, says the meeting was well attended and members still want to see the situation resolved. However, if they have to take action they will.

Last week Post Office Chairman Alan Crowe welcomed a letter from the union, saying it remains open to further talks . . .but he says the Post Office won't budge on the public sector pay freeze.
