Joy for Vagas ladies

by isleofman.com 26th March 2011

A hat-trick of tries from Fran Hunt helped Vagabonds to a 31-26 win over Darlington in women’s Championship North Two.

Rachel Beckley and Abbie Corkish grabbed the others with three conversions from Cath Moore proving crucial.

In the Shimmin Wilson Manx Bowl, Ramsey B were far too strong for Emerging Nomads as they returned home with a 45-0 success.

Two penalties and a Gary Vernon try gave them an 11-0 half-time lead which they stretched in a one-sided second period.

Richard Cowley (two), Gerard Callister, Chris King, James Wren and John Sanderson all crossed over, while Vernon added two conversions.

Castletown’s early season form went out of the window as they were demolished in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Trophy by Southern Nomads.

Tries from Andy Lean (three), Ian Hargreaves (two), Harry Brereton (two), Rob Keelan (two) and one each from Dave Horan and Josh Samuels – not to mention eight conversions from Jack Callaghan – sealed a 71-3 romp.

Sam Peel scored a penalty for Town.
