Bank holiday cost troubles MLC

The idea of an extra bank holiday in the Isle of Man to celebrate national pride has come under fire from an MLC.

North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson says nationalist Illiam Dhone or another Manx worthy could be remembered, and in the House of Keys this week he told Chief Minister Tony Brown he believed it was of 'paramount importance' for the Island's culture and heritage that such a day was marked.

Mr Brown is referring the idea to the Council of Ministers' Governance Committee, but Alex Downie says serious thought needs to be given to the cost of bringing in another bank holiday unique to the Island:
