'Lenient' road death sentence explained

A local advocate has explained how a prison sentence can be determined, following criticism of the one handed down to a Douglas man convicted of causing death by dangerous driving.

Forty-two-year-old Stephen Callow was given a suspended jail term and banned from driving for three years, after a collision in which motorcyclist Mark Penketh was killed.

At the conclusion of the case, Mr Penketh's brother spoke out against what he saw as the 'leniency' of the sentence.

But John Wright says judges must follow very clear guidelines:
