Business leader welcomes postal reassurance

Post office bosses are promising businesses in the Isle of Man there will be no disruption to services if a postal strike is called.

Yesterday (Thursday), Post Office chairman Alan Crowe welcomed a letter from the Communication Workers' Union, saying it remained open to talks to resolve the current pay dispute.

Members on the Island have backed strike action by a resounding majority in a secret ballot, and the union has called a meeting on Sunday to plan the way forward.

Meanwhile, the Post Office says non-union workers will maintain delivery and dispatch of vital business mail if a walkout is called.

Chamber of Commerce chief executive Mike Hennessy says it's a welcome reassurance:
