A MAN from Douglas has received a 12 month custodial sentence, suspended for two years, for causing death by dangerous driving.

Stephen Darren Callow, 42, was sentenced by Deemster Sullivan at a court of general gaol delivery.

He was involved in an accident on Ballaquayle Road in Douglas on September 16, 2009, which caused the death of Mark Penketh.

Mr Callow was also disqualified from driving for three years and will be required to take his test again after this time. He was also ordered to pay £2,000 costs.

A police spokesperson said: "This has been a detailed, protracted investigation and the police are satisfied that a conviction has been recorded. Our thoughts and sympathy goes to the family and friends of Mark Penketh."
