Watchdog says more work needed on taxis

A passenger watchdog organisation says the rise in taxi fares announced on Monday isn't a huge surprise and it doesn’t consider the hike exorbitant.

The Road Transport Licensing Committee said fares would go up by around five per cent from April 1, because of rising fuel costs.

Chairman of Travelwatch Isle of Man Brendan O'Friel sees the increase as inevitable as the price of oil soars, but he says more work needs to be done in relation to taxi services in the Isle of Man:
