The show must go on for Anything Goes - updated

by isleofman.com 23rd March 2011

TONIGHT'S performance of Anything Goes will go ahead.

Last night's performance by the Manx Operatic Society was cancelled after a burst pipe caused damaged to the emergency lighting in the Gaiety Theatre.

But the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure has said tonight's production of the Cole Porter classic will go ahead as scheduled.

A replacement part has been ordered and will be installed as soon as possible. Until permanent repairs can be completed electricians are fitting a temporary generator to power the emergency lighting.

Minister David Cretney MHK said: "What happened was extremely unfortunate and we offer our sincere apologies to everyone disappointed by last night’s cancellation. We are doing everything possible to ensure the remainder of the show's performances can go ahead."

An additional matinee performance of Anything Goes will be staged at 2.30pm on Saturday (26th March). All tickets for last night's cancelled performance are automatically transferred and are valid for this performance.

The Villa Marina and Villa Marina Arcade are not affected and business continues as normal.
