Island bus fares to rise

THE Department of Community, Culture and Leisure has said bus fares will rise due to the "continuing increases in operation costs and budgetary restraints".

 

From Sunday, March 27, there will be an increase to both adult and child fares.

 

Changes to single adult fares are as follows:

 

- Fare band A: 90p to £1.00

e.g:Douglas local
 

- Fare band B: £1.10 to £1.20

e.g. Douglas to Onchan

 

- Fare band C: £1.60 to £1.80 

e.g. Douglas to Glen Vine
 

- Fare band D: £2.30 to £2.50 

e.g. Douglas to Airport

 

- Fare band E: £2.70 to £2.90 

e.g. Douglas to Ramsey   

     

- Fare band F: £3.00 to £3.20 

e.g. Onchan to Port Erin

 

Children's fares will go up by 10 pence per single journey on the C,D,E and F bands.


The 12 journey Manx Rider tickets will also increase in price as follows:

 

- Fare bands A and B from £10 to £11
- Fare band C from £16 to £18
- Fare band D from £18 to £22
- Fare band E from £25 to £27

- Fare band F from £28.50 to £30

 

The recently introduced 'Short Hop' fare, where passengers can travel up to three stops for 50p, remains unchanged. The Night Owl fare remains at double the standard fare.

 

Season tickets also remain unchanged at £50 per adult and £25 per child and are valid for unlimited travel on all scheduled Manx Electric Railway, Snaefell Mountain Railway and Steam Railway services during the season.
