Government to meet amenity site petitioners

by isleofman.com 22nd March 2011

The Manx government is to discuss concerns about the running of a local amenity site, after 600 people signed a petition.

They are unhappy about the way the Western Amenity Site at St John's is being operated.

The site was at the centre of controversy recently when two long-time workers were sacked, with their age being given as the reason.

A number of MHKs have been sent copies of the petition, including Infrastructure Minister
Phil Gawne, who had this to say during question time in the House of Keys (first part of audio file):

Mr Gawne was challenged by Onchan MHK and leader of the Liberal Vannin Party Peter Karran, over his handling of the matter (second part of audio file):

The meeting is due to take place on Tuesday, March 29.
