by isleofman.com 22nd March 2011

Team Manx Telecom rider Christian Varley won Sunday's handicap cycling road race in the north of the Island.

The event was over six laps of a course based around Jurby and covered a distance of 36 miles.

The last group to start were the highest-ranked riders, who set off nine minutes after the first wave left the start line.

Eventually, the dash for the line was between Christian Varley and teammate Aaron Livesey, with Varley getting the verdict.

Jake Kelly completed the podium placings in third spot.

The first lady home was Maty Mason, who was eleventh overall.
