STUDENT police officers will ski the equivalent of the Island's coastline this weekend to support two local charities.
11 new recruits will cover the 100 mile distance using cross-trainers in Regent Street, Douglas on Saturday.
The fundraising event is held as a way of introducing the new police officers to the community as well as raising money for charity.
This year money is being raised for The Rob Vine Fund and Victim Support.
Student officer Robin Arnold said: "Our aim is to cover the distance of the coastline of the Isle of Man. If we surpass this we'll keep going.
"We want to raise funds for two worthwhile charities that are close to the hearts of many Island residents including ourselves.
"Victim support is an independent local charity supporting victims of crime, domestic abuse and those affected by fatal road traffic collisions. It is independent of both the Department of Home Affairs and Isle of Man Constabulary, although many of its clients are referred by the police.
"The Rob Vine Fund provides medical and rescue equipment and training for all doctors, paramedics and marshals involved in two, three and four wheeled motorsport events in the Island."
Inspector Keith Kinrade, staff development manager, said: "This is a great way for the students to engage with members of the community and in doing so raise funds for charity.
"I hope as many people as possible will pop down to Regent Street to support the students."
The cross country Island ski will take place between 9am and 5pm this Saturday, March 26, in Douglas.
The student officers would like to thank Carrefour Gym for loaning them the equipment, Douglas Corporation and the Manx Mountain Bike Club for additional support.
