Age Concern to open furniture shop

by isleofman.com 22nd March 2011

AGE Concern will open a second hand furniture shop in Douglas.

This will be the charities third shop in the Island and will encourage people to "donate it, don’t dump it".

The shop, which will sell second-hand quality furniture, will be located at 73 Circular Road.

Number 73 will provide a showroom for items ranging from beds to bookcases, sofas to soft furnishings.

George Quayle, the chief executive of Age Concern, said: "We're looking at a mid-April opening but in the meantime we are accepting items and will be pleased to arrange free collection. We will also consider house clearances.

"Number 73 is very much in keeping with today's 'reduce, reuse, recycle' way of thinking and will complement our Ramsey and Port Erin shops. And as with all the funds we raise the money generated from sales will stay in the Isle of Man to support client services."

Number 73 will open on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. To donate unwanted items please telephone 01624 613044.
