MHK says 'take time over surgery decision'

by isleofman.com 22nd March 2011

Do plans to locate a GPs' surgery at Michael Primary School make sense?

That's a question being posed by local MHK David Cannan after the idea was put forward by Education Minister Eddie Teare.

Mr Cannan says the people of the village will have to decide if the idea is a good one, but he is urging them not to make any hasty decisions (play audio file):

A section of the oldest part of the school is considered surplus to requirements and the area could be divided off from the rest of the school with a separate entrance.

Currently, GPs hold surgeries at a temporary facility in the Cannan Court sheltered housing complex where, it's claimed, space is at a premium.
