Improved water supply for 12,000

A new reservoir has been completed in the south of the Island, replacing the old Ballagawne facility.

Rushen MHKs Phil Gawne and Juan Watterson joined representatives of the Water and Sewerage Authority for Friday's official opening.

The new reservoir holds 7.5 megalitres of fresh water and serves 12,000 people.

Contractors are now dismantling the roof of the old site, and filling it in.

Authority chairman Tim Crookall MHK says maintaining the ageing reservoir was becoming too costly:
