School pupils doing something funny for money

by isleofman.com 18th March 2011

IT'S Red Nose Day today and schoolchildren around the Island are marking the event by doing something funny for money.

The Comic Relief event aims to raise money for vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the UK and Africa.

Arbory School is holding a jokeathon and a comic show and Scoill Phurt Le Moirrey and Rushen Primary School are holding talent shows.

A "Crazy Salon" is open at Ashley Hill Primary School where pupils can have a red hair-do, take part in face and nail painting.

Pupils at Auldyn Infants School are dressing up in funny fashions including wearing inside out clothing, odd footwear and bad hairstyles. They will also be holding a Red Nose Day disco.

There is red food on the menu at Ballacottier School and pupils at Marown School will be in school in their pyjamas or red clothes. Classrooms will also be transformed this afternoon with a video classroom, disco room and a room where the pupils can throw sponges at their teachers.

Sixth form students at Castle Rushen High School will be dressing as clowns for the day and year seven students will be holding a sponsored silence.

What are you doing for Red Nose Day? Are you marking the event in your office or company? Let us know what you are doing by e-mailing newsroom@isleofman.com and send in your pictures.

The official Red Nose day television programme will be broadcast tonight on BBC 1 from 7pm.
