POLICE officers in the Isle of Man have been honoured at the annual Chief Constable’s Award Ceremony which took place this afternoon.
The ceremony, held at The Sefton Hotel, was attended by His Excellency Vice Admiral Sir Paul Haddacks and Lady Haddacks.
Chief Constable Mike Langdon said: "This is a particularly special time of the year where I have the opportunity to pay tribute to the service and dedication shown by officers, volunteers, support staff and members of the public throughout the course of the year. It is thanks to their commitment and quality of service that the Island remains one of the safest places to live, work and travel to."
There were 15 awards handed out in total and recipients included officers, volunteers and members of the public.
Among those who were honoured included Acting Sergeant Andy Reed who was awarded the Community Police Office of the Year accolade for exemplifying "the importance that the Isle of Man Constabulary attaches to neighbourhood policing" and PC Helen King who was awarded the R.K Eason Trophy for outstanding performance.
The Snake Pit Project which brought together young people, the police, the youth service and Douglas Corporation was awarded the Community Partnership Initiative Award Trophy and The Les Grady Trophy for outstanding contribution in the sporting arena went to Acting Detective Inspector Juan Kinley.
Seven police officers were awarded Warrants of Establishment for successfully completing a two year probationary period and 23 officers were awarded the Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal for completing 20 years police service.
Five police support officers who have completed 15 years service were awarded the Police Support Staff Long Service Award and special constable Mike Barratt received the Special Constabulary Long Service Medal for nine years unpaid service.
