POLICE officers who helped demonstrate the Isle of Man Constabulary's commitment to tackling financial crime have been acknowledged at an awards ceremony.
Detective Sergeant Lynne Skelly, Detective Constables Dave Moore and Dave Dancox and Jeanette Kessler were each awarded a Chief Constable's Certificate of Merit this afternoon.
The officers were awarded the accolade for their investigative skill, tenacity and professionalism in a "difficult, demanding and complex criminal investigation which attracted considerable public and judicial scrutiny".
Other officers who were also awarded the Certificate of Merit included Detective Constable Lesley Taylor who was recognised for compassion and dedication for her "outstanding care and support to victims of horrific sexual abuse during a lengthy police investigation and subsequent criminal trial."
Lesley was also awarded the Isle of Man Police Federation Cup for Service to the Public for "the modest and unassuming way that she goes about her work, often in the most harrowing and unpleasant of circumstances".
Detective Constables John Mitchell and Emma McGreevy were recognised for dedication and professionalism for their part in developing intelligence which led to the closure of a money laundering operation. The operation had played a significant part in financing the Island's trade in controlled drugs.
PCs Charlene Dooley and Rob Lewis were awarded the accolade for serving the community. PC Dooley was recognised for "building strong and effective relationships" with young people in Willaston. PC Lewis was recognised for playing "a major part in bringing together young people, the police and the community as a whole in Pulrose".
PC Paul Dugdale received the award for diligence and professionalism for enforcing road traffic laws in a courteous, professional manner.
Community volunteer Barbara Cohen got the award for service and dedication for her work with the Douglas Neighbourhood Policing Team which "makes her the epitome of the community volunteer, showing that keeping people safe is a task that can and should be shared between the police and the public."
Detective Sergeant Darren Richards and Simon Court were recognised for dedication and professionalism. Darren was recognised for planning and managing an overhaul of the constabulary's information management systems and Simon for providing expert, professional support enabling effective management of the constabulary's budget.
The awards ceremony took place at The Sefton Hotel.
