Still time to thrash out a deal, says CWU

Despite the overwhelming 'yes' vote for strike action by Isle of Man Post Office employees, the union which called the ballot says it would still prefer to thrash out a pay deal.

Members of the Communication Workers' Union make up around half of the workforce at the post office.

Speaking after the ballot result was announced, CWU Isle of Man representative Jon Joughin said there was still time to get round the negotiating table.

But he said management had done themselves no favours with their handling of the situation so far (first part of audio file):
