Taxi drivers are staging a protest outside Tynwald today (Tuesday) to object to plans which, if approved, would allow cabs to operate anywhere in the Isle of Man.
A public consultation found an all-Island system was the most popular option.
It's felt it would allow greater flexibility, lead to fewer empty journeys and could provide a more complete service.
Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne has vowed to work with the taxi trade and review the decision after twelve months, via an unmet needs survey.
