Pension concern for teachers

There's great concern among Manx teachers about plans to change UK public sector pensions and the knock-on effect that could have here.

A report compiled by Lord Hutton and published this week suggests up to six million people should be switched to schemes which pay out an average of their salary, rather than their final salary.

Personal contributions would rise too.

Martin Fisher is the National Union of Teachers' north west regional officer.

He visited the Island at the end of this week and says many union members approached him over the issue at the Isle of Man branch's AGM on Thursday:
