A CONSULTATION has been launched on the constitution of the Office of Fair Trading and the role of Tynwald members on its board.
At present the chairman and the vice-chairman of the OFT board have to be Members of Tynwald as set down under section three of the Board of Consumer Affairs Act 1981.
The board also has three non-members of Tynwald who represent consumers in relation to the functions of the board.
Each member is appointed by the Council of Ministers subject to the approval of Tynwald.
The consultation document is available on the consultations section of the Isle of Man Government website www.gov.im and the consultation period ends at 5pm on Wednesday, April 27.
