ISLE of Man residents can apply for tickets for the London 2012 Olympics the same way as other citizens in the British Isles after all, it has been confirmed.
Some Manx residents were sent an email saying they were not eligible to get tickets from the London 2012 website and were told they had to get them from their National Olympic Committee (NOC) or authorised ticket retailer instead, the BBC has reported.
Manx athletes are eligible to compete for Team GB in the games and the Island, while not part of the UK, is part of the British Isles.
An Olympic spokesman told the BBC: "People on the Isle of Man were sent a London 2012 email in error suggesting they would not be able to apply for tickets to the games via the same process as the rest of the UK.
"We apologise for this and any inconvenience caused and we have sent a correction to all those affected.
"We will, of course, accept applications from everywhere in the north west region - including the Isle of Man - at www.tickets.london2012.com between March 15 and April 26 2011."
