by isleofman.com 9th March 2011

Two multi-millionaire businessmen have been arrested as the United Kingdom's Serious Fraud Office investigates the collapse of Kaupthing Bank.

The SFO arrested a total of seven men in raids on offices and homes in London, and a further two were arrested in Iceland.

Robert and Vincent Tchenguiz were two of the bank's biggest clients, before its collapse in 2008 which led to the failure of Kaupthing Singer and Friedlander in the Isle of Man.

Robert Tchenguiz was a board member of Kaupthing's largest shareholder, investment company Exista.

Both deny any wrongdoing.

British and Icelandic investigators are looking into allegations of market abuse, excessive loans to related parties and fraud.
