MHK seeks date for introduction of bill

The chief minister says the Manx government remains committed to introducing a Freedom of Information Bill and will do so during the current legislative session.

He was replying to House of Keys question from East Douglas MHK Brenda Cannell, who also wanted to know the outcome of a public consultation on the issue.

Mr Brown was pressed by several members including Rushen MHK Juan Watterson and Michael MHK David Cannan on precisely when the bill would be introduced.

He was also asked whether it would receive its three readings before the end of the current legislative session, but refused to give a specific date:
