Retailers unhappy with A-board plan

Traders in Douglas are objecting to a borough council plan to charge a fee for displaying A-boards along Strand Street.

Under the proposal, shops would have to pay ?100 a year because the local authority and the Douglas Development Partnership claim the advertising boards are a hazard to visually impaired people.

Simon Brown of the Creative Store is collecting signatures for a petition against the plan.

He can't see how paying a fee would make the signs any safer:
