Energy efficiency awards open for entries

Entries are being invited for this year’s Energy Champion Awards.

Run by the Department of Economic Development, the awards acknowledge the achievements of the Island's businesses and public sector organisations in reducing their energy consumption and improving their efficiency.

There are three categories, for most innovative energy saving project, Energy Champion best practice and the largest saving for a project

The Energy Champion Awards ceremony will form part of the opening of the 2011 Energy Expo and the winners will each receive a framed certificate and award.

Last year the NSC made the single biggest saving, after controllers on ventilation and pool pumps reduced bills by ?43,000.

Manx Telecom installed special software to power down inactive staff computers, which saved the company over ?27,000 in its first year.
