by isleofman.com 5th March 2011

THE theft of a large green canoe is being investigated by officers from the Douglas Neighbourhood Policing Team.

The theft is believed to have occurred some time overnight between Thursday March 3 and the early hours of Friday March 4 in the area of Saddlestone, Douglas.

The canoe is a substantial size measuring approximately 11 feet in length and is a considerable weight, meaning that a vehicle would have been used.

Police Constable Watterson of the Douglas Neighbourhood Policing Team said, “The canoe is a distinctive design and one of a very few number on the island. I would encourage any persons who may have knowledge of this offence or if they are suspicious about one being sold on to them, then they are to get in touch with the police.”

If anyone has any information in relation to this offence they are urged to contact Douglas Police Headquarters on 631212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
