DOUGLAS Borough Council will spend £100,000 on a project to refurbish Woodbourne Square.
The council will tarmac the paths, paint the perimeter railings and install new metal benches which will be finished in black, similar to those on Douglas Promenade.
The council will also upgrade the existing drainage system and supplement the existing planting. The sundial in the centre of the square will also be restored.
Councillor Stephen Pitts, the leisure services committee chairman, said: "Our garden squares are a unique feature in Douglas and once refurbished Woodbourne Square will benefit from a new lease of life.
"I would however respectfully remind the public that dogs are not allowed in any of our garden squares. It is to be hoped that the Borough’s bye-laws regarding dog fouling and litter are observed in order that Woodbourne Square remains a pleasant green and open space in the heart of Douglas."
