Southern 100 race programme changed to suit Irish ferry times

by isleofman.com 3rd March 2011

THE race programme for the Southern 100 Road Races has been changed to suit Irish sailing times.

Concern had been raised by a number or would-be competitors who also plan to ride at the Fore MCRC’s Walderstown National Road Races on July 9 and 10, before travelling to the Island for the Southern 100 races which start on July 11.

Organisers have now amended practice and race times to ensure that any competitors making the crossing on the 10.45am sailing from Dublin will have sufficient practice/qualifying periods to enable them to be able to race in the Isle of Man.

The proposed race programme is now as follows:

Tuesday, July 12
Senior Solo Founders - 8 laps
Sidecar Race - 6 laps

Wednesday, July 13
Senior Race - 8 laps
250/650 Race - 8 laps
600 Race 1 - 8 laps
125/400 Race - 1 6 laps

Thursday, July 14
600 Race 2 - 8 laps
250/650 Race 2 - 8 laps
125/400 Race 2 - 6 laps
Solo Championship - 9 laps
Sidecar Championship - 8 laps

Practice and qualifying will take place as usual on the Monday evening and Tuesday evening prior to Tuesday’s two-race programme outlined above.

Race secretary George Peach is requesting all prospective competitors who are planning to ride at Walderstown and then travel and compete at Billown to e-mail him at georgepeach@manx.net to enable the club to ensure they are able to take part in the 2011 Southern 100.
