by isleofman.com 3rd March 2011

DISABILITY football will be included in this year's HSBC Manx Youth Games for the first time ever.

This year is the tenth HSBC Manx Youth Games and the first time a disability sport will be included.

Kevin Cartledge, senior manager at HSBC, said: "We are extremely excited to include disability football into this year's games. Making this sporting event more accessible to children is extremely important towards the development and success of the dames.

"Working in partnership with the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure, we have seen the HSBC Manx Youth Games develop into one of the biggest sporting events in the Isle of Man calendar."

Weekly football training sessions will take place in all four regions of the Island in preparation for the big day. These will begin on March 14 and will last for six weeks. Highly qualified coaches will lead the children and teach new skills and techniques in a fun and inclusive environment.

The HSBC Manx Youth Games will take place on Saturday, May 21, at the National Sports Centre in Douglas. It is the Island's biggest multi-sport event and will attract more than 1,200 young people aged between eight and 15.
