Manx Telecom wins Sunday Times award

by isleofman.com 3rd March 2011

MANX Telecom has been included for the first time in ‘The 100 Best Companies to Work For’, adding to the local companies featuring in the prestigious Sunday Times listing.

It’s the first time Manx Telecom has applied for inclusion and puts the company alongside some of the UK’s major high street brands. They finished 88th overall in the list.

The listing is the result of an extensive survey in which employees are invited to comment on a range of issues including management, opportunities for personal development, and on what the company gives to the wider community.

Chris Hall, Managing Director of Manx Telecom, attended the awards ceremony at Battersea Evolution in London which was hosted by BBC Breakfast presenter Bill Turnbull

“Our inclusion in The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies To Work For list at the first attempt is a remarkable achievement for everyone at Manx Telecom,” said Chris Hall. “It demonstrates the high level of commitment from all our employees right across the business. It is a testimony to their dedication and to our collective commitment to the business and the community we serve.”

Jonathan Austin, who is the founder and CEO of Best Companies Ltd, added, “On behalf of Best Companies Limited I am delighted Manx Telecom has achieved a place in this year’s list. The company should be truly proud that its employees recognise it as a ‘best company’ to work for.”

The Sunday Times sponsored survey is the largest employee survey of its kind with over 1,165 organisations involved and 275,000 employees completing the survey this year. The survey focuses on workplace engagement and aims to show the level to which employees feel personally involved with their place of work.

The inclusion of Manx Telecom in the Sunday Times list makes it a hat-trick for Isle of Man organisations this year. The Children’s Centre - the Island’s leading charity working with children and young people - was sixth in the 100 Best Places To Work In The Public And Charity Sectors. Last week Fairbairn Private Bank was listed 17th in the Best Small Companies list, the seventh successive year that Fairbairn Private Bank has been listed.

The full list will appear in this weekend's edition of The Sunday Times.
