King crowned at NSC

Great Britain race walker Daniel King won the 20 kilometre race at Manx Harriers' open meeting at the National Sports Centre today (Saturday).

In bright conditions, he clocked a time of 1 hour, 29 minutes and 42 seconds to finish over six minutes ahead of Irish competitor David Kidd.

The leading Manx performer was Steve Partington in fourth place.

King was pleased with his early season form and his big target is the 50K race at next year's London Olympics.

3Km Walk: 1, Edel Glennon (Mullingar Harriers) 16.28; 2, Sinead O'Connor (St Coca's) 16.59; 3, Siobhan Nash (St Abban's) 17.08. Best local: 7, Rebecca Greatbatch (Manx Harriers) 20.12.
