Rea and Toseland struggle for Pace

by isleofman.com 25th February 2011

Isle of Man residents Jonathan Rea and James Toseland struggled during the opening qualifying session at the first round of the World Superbike Championship at Phillip Island in Australia.

Rea crashed earlier in the week at a test session at the same venue. He had set the third quickest time before his Castrol Honda went on fire spitting him off at 130mph.

He received hospital treatment for injuries to his left hand.

Rea was 9th fastest in the first official timing sheets while James Toseland posted the 15th best time on his BMW.

The Ducati pair of Checa and Guintoli occupy the top two places.
