AN Island charity is appealing to residents who have a strong sense of adventure to help boost funds.
Junior Achievement Isle of Man has teamed up with the specialist challenge event organiser Global Adventure Challenges to organise a trek through the Grand Canyon.
Tina Edge, development officer at Junior Achievement, said: "This is a trip of a lifetime to experience one of the natural wonders of the world and, at the same time, raise money to help us equip young people with essential skills for when they leave full-time education.
"The challenge requires entrants to raise a minimum of £3,350. This covers flights from the UK to Phoenix, eight fantastic days that include trekking in the Grand Canyon, descending into the Indian reservation of Havasupai which has the last post office in the US still serviced by mule train, a night in Las Vegas, the flight from there back to the UK and a donation to Junior Achievement Isle of Man.
"Places are limited on these exclusive challenges so I'd urge people to register as soon as they can and the team here at Junior Achievement will be happy to help entrants with their fundraising events in whatever way we can."
Global Adventure Challenges can arrange to extend participants' stays in the United States to allow for extra time to travel.
The company will be visiting the Island at a date to be confirmed to provide more information about the event.
The Grand Canyon Trek will take place between May 12 and May 19 next year. Anyone over the age of 17 is eligible to take part.
