Isle of Man business tycoon Trevor Baines, his wife and the advocate who represented them will be sentenced today (Friday) for money laundering offences.
Last month, Trevor and Wendy Baines admitted stealing more than ?900,000 and obtaining ?400,000 by deception respectively.
Meanwhile, former Island advocate Jenny Holt of Union Mills was convicted on one count of money laundering and two of creating false records following a two week trial.
The charges stemmed from late 2009 when she was part of Trevor and Wendy Baines' defence team in their own money laundering case.
From the outset, 30-year-old Holt denied handling ?400,000 stolen from a trust fund by Trevor Baines and his wife Wendy.
The money was taken from Hermitage Securities Limited in order to fund their legal fees and, during last month’s trial, Trevor Baines was described as a 'convicted criminal and confident trickster'.
However, a jury took just two and a half hours to return guilty verdicts on Holt.
Ahead of this morning’s sentencing, Acting Deemster David Turner said he will be keeping his sentencing options open.
