Kerbside collections to continue for some

by isleofman.com 24th February 2011

KERBSIDE collection will continue in Douglas and Braddan until at least March, 2012.

Douglas Corporation and Braddan Commissioners have given the recycling scheme the go-ahead to continue.

Graham Cregeen MHK, member for the Department of Infrastructure, said: "I am pleased that both Douglas Corporation and Braddan Commissioners have decided to continue to fund and operate the scheme until March 2012, I think that this is a positive way forward for this progressive service.

"I will be writing to all of the members of Onchan Commissioners to invite them to the next meeting of the Kerbside Collection Partnership so that they can ask any questions regarding the scheme."

Onchan Commissioners scrapped the kerbside recycling in the district saying there was insufficient evidence that the initiative was reducing carbon dioxide emissions to any meaningful extent.
