Helpful pupils rewarded with posh nosh

by isleofman.com 27th February 2011

SIX children from Willaston Primary School earned themselves a meal out for being helpful and showing respect around the school.

The Respect Award Scheme aims to reward well behaved children who have shown respect to teachers, peers and visitors to the school.

It was set up between PC Charlene Dooley, the Athol Ward manager, and the school's deputy headteacher Rose Burton.

The children chosen for the reward this time, a trip to the restaurant at the Isle of Man College, had earned golden tickets for showing good manners to adults, helping younger children, and keeping the school tidy.

Golden ticket holders included Joshua Gilardoni, 7, Korben Bowers, 9, Megan Denvir, 10, Joe Berquist, 10, Olivia Sherrington, 10 and Ashleigh Coleman, 10.

Catering students at the college prepared the children a special menu including loin of cod or chicken goujons with chips and peas. This was followed by ice cream.

Olivia said: "It was like being royalty. It made us feel really special."

The next reward is scheduled for the end of March.
