Rea injured in crash

by isleofman.com 23rd February 2011

Isle of Man resident Jonathan Rea could miss Sunday's World Superbike Championship opening races of the season.

He crashed on the final day of testing at the Phillip Island circuit in Australia when his Castrol Honda caught fire, forcing Rea to throw himself off at 130mph.

Rea has injured his left hand and arm - he fractured his left wrist in a spill last season.

He is awaiting the results of medical tests before knowing whether he will be able to take part in the first weekend of the new campaign.
