Making pension scheme affordable

by isleofman.com 22nd February 2011

Economic Development Minister Allan Bell says both the government and Chamber of Commerce share the same views about public sector pensions.

In the House of Keys this morning, Mr Bell faced questions from Onchan MHK Peter Karran about the chamber’s chief executive Mike Hennessy after he called for the government pension scheme to be closed to new entrants.

Mr Bell said proposals were being put together by a firm of consultants over the scheme.

But he added Mr Hennessy’s views on making the scheme affordable reflected the opinion of the Council of Ministers.
