STUDENTS at the Isle of Man College will offer advice on healthy living and eating when they stage their annual ‘Health Fayre’ in March.
The theme for this year’s fayre is “looking after the whole you” and will be staged at the college on Wednesday March 9 with an open invitation to the Manx public.
Local support agencies are also joining the students to offer advice on a wide range of topics to be addressed including exercise with the NSC, online safety with Manx Telecom, housing problems with homelessness charity Kemmyrk, crisis support from the Samaritans and dental hygiene from the community dentist.
Isle of Man College catering students will provide healthy snacks and hair and beauty students will offer a wide range of treatments including hair braiding and cutting, Indian head massage and diamond peel. Regular yoga sessions will be held during the day.
A spokesperson for the College said, “We are delighted that such a diverse selection of local agencies will be on hand at the Fayre to provide information on topics which are of real relevance to young people in their everyday lives.
“Contributors will present information in an easy to understand, interactive, informative and fun way. Between them they will address the full meaning of health – physical, emotional and mental well being”.
The fayre is open to the public from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 4 pm. A programme of activities will be available at the college reception.
A spokesman emphasised, “Although the fayre is targeted at young people aged 16 plus, anyone is welcome to attend.”
