MHK disappointed by commissioners' stance

by isleofman.com 22nd February 2011

An Onchan MHK admits he’s disappointed commissioners in the constituency he represents have withdrawn their support for kerbside collection.

The trial scheme for the east of the Island has been run between them, Braddan Commissioners and Douglas Corporation over the past two years with backing from central government.

However, the viability of introducing a permanent local authority funded package, is now under threat after the Onchan authority voted NOT to continue the scheme from September, when government funding runs out.

Adrian Earnshaw says while he can understand some of the concerns voiced by Onchan Commissioners, they seem to be going against the trend.
